Why I love Aurelia Skincare

As a make up artist I'm lucky enough to be able to use lots of premium skincare brands. Recently I made the decision to switch to greener, more ethical brands. There are so many to choose from but I absolutely love Aurelia at the moment and it's beautiful packaging is adorning my bathroom shelves. As it's January I'm always on the search for products to feed my parched skin. The first product from the range that is a hit for me is the Revitalise and Glow Serum. I love to see instant results and this time of year it seems impossible to get that much loved glow (take note sleep deprived Mums) so this product certainly achieves that and it's lovely to use.

Next is the Refine and Polish Miracle Balm which I absolutely love to use. It has an instant warming effect which makes you feel as if the product is really working. It contains a whole host of beautiful essential oils including chamomile and eucalyptus and the smell is so calming. I love to apply it in the bath leave it on for about 10 minutes and wash off with a muslin cloth. You feel as if you've been to a spa as it stimulates and brightens and you're left with fresh and that much sought after glow.

The Eye Revitalising Duo consists of two products. The first is the innovative Revitalise and Brighten Eye Dew which is so cooling and an excellent product to use if you wake up with puffy eyes feeling exhausted. The rollerball applicator brightens and firms the eye area and is the equivalent of a lymphatic eye massage. If you can remember to put it in the fridge the night before you use it you can double the effect for a very cooling eye treat. Finish with Illuminate and Smooth Puff Reduction Eye Cream to hydrate, brighten and reduce those pesky fine lines.

Thoughts on Nyasa Metamorphosis Revitalising Beauty Oil

Nyasa London believe that 'our attitude and everyday routine - what we eat, what we think, and what we feel - and what we put on our skin, all combine to determine the quality and energy of our lives and how we look.' Nyasa is a luxury vegan skincare range combining science, nature and age-old traditions for healthy, glowing skin. I was sent some Nyasa products to try and something that stood out for me was the beautiful Metamorphosis Revitalising Beauty Oil. The first thing that stood out for me was design of the bottle, when you press the button just the right amount of oil is drawn into the glass pipette and when applied to my skin the first thing I noticed was the incredible plant based aroma, it's a combination of many essential oils but for me Jasmine was the one that was most notable. This sensory experience immediately made me feel more relaxed. In terms of what it actually does to your skin I noticed a definite improvement in my skins texture it was more plumped and hydrated. At this time of year being November if you suffer from combination and dry skin then sometimes an oil seems one of the best products to use to counteract the effects of contrasting temperatures. This oil has become a staple in my skincare routine now and I love the results.

Berry Reds for Autumn

There's something very refreshing about the onset of Autumn. Don't get me wrong summer is the BEST time of year but I embrace change and all that it brings. In terms of lip shades the most obvious choice is the Berry tones, something a little warmer to match the change in leaves. I have spent most of the summer wearing super-bright pinks and neon oranges and am a huge fan of bright lips but after a while it's great to change things up a little. Here are a selection of some of my favourites.

From the top in the image below the first shade that I love for it's depth and pay off is Lipstick Queen Lip Pencil in Cupid's Bow. This is a vamp-like dark red with a purple hue that has a vintage feel reminiscent of the 20's. Next up is 3ina Chubby Lipstick in 101. This is more or a true red that exudes glamour. The 3ina chubby sticks are so comfortable to wear, have a matte finish and last forever. I personally would feel fine wearing this shade during the day but if you prefer a softer look then use it as a stain. The next product is Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour in Passion - if you prefer a sponge applicator then this is it. It's definitely an evening shade in my opinion that exudes old Hollywood glamour. In contrast and in the organic category is Burts Bees Lip Crayon in Redwood Forest. These new crayons feel ultra light on your lips and have a clean, minty taste like the tints. Last is Sisley Phyto Lip Twist in number 14. If you prefer more of a softer pink shade then this is it and it's not as perfumed as other brands but feels very hydrating. Let me know what you think and if you're thinking about changing your lip shade this Autumn.

Topshop Make up

This week I've been having a play with the Topshop Make up range. A perk of the job is being given lots of great make up to try and what I like about this brand is the colour pay off and fun packaging. Everything I used rivalled that of a premium make up brand. I especially like the idea of the Everything Stick which was designed by Topshop Make up artist Hannah Murray as she often uses lipsticks as blushers and vice-versa. The Everything Stick is a versatile 3-in-1 stick that can be used on eyes, cheeks and lips. I used a shade called Tenacious which is a soft peachy, ochre shade with a 90's feel. It was easy to blend and handy to throw in a bag. The Smoke Stick in Fool's Gold is a bronze shade that works well for day or night and delivers a pretty fool-proof smoky eye with a touch of blending. The Kohl is very popular with beauty editors alike as it's super-black and waxy - what we all love. Matte Lip Bullet in Boy Racer is a vibrant red that's very dense and brightens up many a tired pallor. I used it as a stain during the day and blurred the edges with my finger but you could take a little longer and apply with a brush for an evening look which is certainly worth the effort. For a chunky lashed look I'd recommend the False Lash Intense Mascara which lasted all day and again is blacker than black.
